Ricardo Bloch Chosen By Vis à Vis, "HAPPY DAYS" Exhibition At School Gallery Paris

Photographer and Lalande Digital Art Press client Ricardo Bloch has been chosen to be a part of Vis A Vis’ “Online Selection” this past month. Six of Ricardo’s portraits of children, made in Denver in 1978, were selected. Ricardo will open a show of these images, entitled "Happy Days" on 20 May at School Gallery, 81, rue du Temple, 75003 Paris.

In the meantime, visit Ricardo's blog, an image and sound journal, AMPHIBIOUS ANDROMEDA.

From School Gallery: 22 mai / 30 juin Ricardo Bloch "Happy Days"

"The idea for this particular collage came to Amy while baking Valentine’s Day cookies with her daughter, when she used a cookie cutter as a guide for the heart shape," writes Lucas Lepola, director Keep Calm.

Elam : Livres d'Amour

Sketchbooks, travel and photo albums, guest books, notebooks, Elam Books are so gorgeous, you might not even want to mark them up. Nicholas, a long-time friend of Lalande Digital Press, believes in old fashioned quality. His books are a treasure. Follow the link below to see his site (in French and English).

Wahsoh: New Print For Keep Calm UK

Keep Calm and Carry On: A new print, Wahsoh (2008) by Matthew Rose for KEEP CALM GALLERY is now available exclusively through the web site.

The edition is signed, dated and numbered, edition of 50, A2-sized (18" x 25") full-color print on fine acid-free paper, printed by Lalande Digital Art Press Paris. Price: 55 UK Pounds. This print is typical of Matthew Rose's increasingly mad world. Originally a 50 x 50 cm collage exhibited in "Herzschmerz" in 2006 Berlin at Gallery Tristesse Deluxe, the piece was destroyed (and has subsequently been remade). Here, obsessive worlds of sex and language collide in a miasma of metaphor and mistaken identity. The artist takes his collage technique to not only reading and spelling, but seeing and hearing, with this unique "all-over" piece.

Two exhibitions by Matthew Rose are planned for May and June. In May, The David Turner Gallery, in Atlanta, Georgia will present more than 30 large-format prints from the A Perfect Friend series as well as a series of drawings and collages for the gallery's inaugural exhibition. In June, Galerie Rosella Junck, Augustrasse 28, Berlin will feature new collage works, drawings and objects in a show entitled "A KICK IN THE KUNST."

Space Exploration: CSIS

Space and time, thanks to Einstein, has been inextricably linked. But the connection is complex and there's an endless (human) need for explication and education about exploring these bedfellows. Lalande Digital Press Paris helped in its way working with the Washington D.C. group, Center for Strategic and International Studies.

We received an urgent e-mail message from Ryan Faith at CSIS about an international meeting to be held in Paris in late March. CSIS required 100 copies of a 24-page book for the meeting. "Could it be delivered in three days?" he asked? Yes, we could and did (actually two days). Files were transferred and Lalande Wizard Robert Ruscoe worked late into the starry night to get the job done and delivered before the meeting began. Ryan was happy to have an English language printer based in Paris to help make the conference a success.

The CSIS provides strategic insights and policy solutions to decisionmakers in government, international institutions, the private sector, and civil society. A bipartisan, nonprofit organization the group with some 220 full time staffers conducts research and analysis and develops policy initiatives that look into the future and anticipate change. CSIS is primarily focused on defense and security, regional stability, and transnational challenges ranging from energy and climate to global development and economic integration.

Lyn Wigbels, Senior Associate, CSIS, was in Paris to receive the books for her meeting. Her note: "Thank you for the wonderful printing job you did on the Center for Strategic and International Studies Human Space Exploration Education report. My colleague, Ryan Faith, and I were very impressed with how you responded to our need to have the reports ready by Wednesday, 26 March, for our meeting with experts from all over the world. The documents you delivered were quite attractive, very professionally produced, and arrived in good shape. We greatly appreciate your professionalism and responsiveness to our business needs!"

La Vie En A4

Thank you, Wikipedia for the discussion of paper sizes. Feel free to click and enlarge the diagram at left and keep on your desktop for a handy reference. Lord knows I need to consult this all day long. It's extremely helpful for those looking to print large format digital prints and for figuring out how to cut a large sheet into standard sizes.
